Eccentric Racing Network – Giveaway

Earlier this week we introduced you to the Eccentric Racing Network and it’s great resources for families. We also briefly mentioned that they have products to go with their site. Today, we’re going to talk a little more about the fun shop and products that are offered at Eccentric Racing Network.
I particularly like their book which features RV the Aardvark who is an incredible creature who has overcome much in life. Although he was born without feet, he has not only learned how to function well, he has also become an amazing racer despite his adversities.
Children, especially boys, love this story and are definitely drawn in. My 11 year old was fascinated by all the characters, though he did mention that the story started out a little slow, it didn’t take long for him to really get involved in the story.
He loved reading about RV and thought that the villains were great too. Leave it to a boy to judge a book by it’s villains and how well the main character (heroes) overcome them! This is really a great book.
If you want to use it as a lesson in your homeschool, it’s great for that as well. Just purchase the accompanying teacher’s guide!
But there’s more…
They also offer quite a few other great family friendly products that I recommend. Check out their Race Shop here!
In fact, I’m excited to offer one of you the amazing opportunity to win two shirts from their shop! Just visit the shop, pick two items and leave a comment with the name and size of the shirt (retail value $30-$50).

PenPal Notes
Going back to school can elicit a multitude of feelings in children. Some are nervous, some are excited, some are a combination of every possible reaction. One thing is for sure, elementary aged children love taking lunch in their new lunch boxes and they adore getting notes from mom.
PenPal Notes has incorporated a very fun idea into an educational experience for your child. I actually chose to receive the Proverbs set because I wanted to add a little more scripture to the middle of their day, and I love it! These notes are the size of a postcard and will slip easily into your child’s lunch bag or box. You simply add the child’s name in the appropriate place and the note is ready to go.
Your child (or children) will enjoy following Tej a cute panda bear and the main character for all of the PenPals sets. There are some great subjects currently available…
- Discover Africa
- Dinosaur Days
- Traveling Taste Buds
- Meet the US Presidents
- Tej and the Big Cats
- Proverbs
- Amazing Animal Facts
They have a few more subjects coming soon…Famous Artists and Great Women of the Past. These notes are such a fun little pick-me-up for kids. If you want to add a personal note to your child, there’s plenty of room for that as well.
You can even bring the educational facts to the dinner table with their fantastic themed PenMats. These mats can be used with any washable marker and they perfectly compliment the PenPal notes! You can even check out their blog here.
PenPal Notes has offered a 10% discount for my readers when you use the code MREVIEW before checking out. This offer will be good for one month from today.
It gets even better. They have offered one lucky commenter one set of PenPal Notes of your choice! To enter, visit PenPal Notes, then come back here and leave a comment telling me which set you would like if your comment is the one chosen.
As part of Ready for School week, if you have the Ready for School button on your blog you are automatically qualified for one extra entry (just leave a second comment with a link to your blog).
For extra entries, just choose from the following and leave a new comment for each one you qualify for…

Ideal No Calorie Sweetener
Have you ever wanted cut back on the amount of sugar you use, but didn’t want to use artificial sweetener products? Well, I am excited to share with you a new No Calorie Sweetener that is more than 99% natural; Ideal.
Ideal No Calorie Sweetener is made with Xylitol (made from plant material). Xylitol has been FDA approved for over 40 years and has health benefits other sweeteners can’t claim. It is safe for children, pregnant and nursing women and diabetics. Ideal is perfect for anyone looking to cut sugar and calories from their diet. It also has bacteria-fighting properties and has been shown to reduce ear infections. Unlike sugar it prevents dental cavities and reduces the buildup of plaque on teeth.
In independent university taste tests, Ideal No Calorie Sweetener was preferred over sugar for sweetness, flavor, and overall liking! And Unlike some other sweeteners Ideal measures cup for cup like sugar and is great for baking. I made cookies with Ideal and they were great! Here is the recipe that I used, I found it on the back of the Ideal 10.6 oz bag.
Cinnamon Cookies
Ingredients
1 cup Ideal™ No Calorie Sweetener
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
For topping
3 Tbs Ideal™ No Calorie Sweetener
2 tsp cinnamon
Directions
In a mixing bowl, cream together Ideal™ No Calorie Sweetener and butter; beat in egg and vanilla. Sift together flour, 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon, baking powder and salt; add to butter mixture and blend well until ball is formed. Cover and refrigerate two hours or until firm enough to roll into balls. Shape dough into small balls about 3/4 inches in diameter. Roll balls in mixture of 3 TBS Ideal™ No Calorie Sweetener and 2 tsp cinnamon. Set cookies on lightly greased cookie sheets; press down until 1/4 inch thick. Bake at 350° F for 10 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Cool slightly on cookie sheets, then remove to racks to cool completely.
I also used it to sweeten lemonade and thought it tasted wonderful. I really liked the product and would use it again. For more information be sure to visit their website at www.idealsweet.com .
We are happy to be able to give one lucky reader a 10.6 ounce baking bag and 50 count packet box of Ideal. Stand O’Food – iPhone App
July 23, 2009 by Shera
Filed under Contests, Featured, Reviews, Technology, iPhone Apps
Another fun Time Management iPhone App. I truly do believe that this is my favorite genre of game, but there are just so many fun games out there! This one is super for moms or kids though as you race to put together the right combinations of foods at a variety of fast food stands.
Strategy is the name of the game though since the food comes out on conveyer belts and you have to choose in a way that will allow you to make the next person’s order accordingly. This is fun, but surprisingly challenging.
Likes: No worries about anything not kid friendly coming up in this game, which is great since I know that I can hand it off to any of our boys and let them play without worrying about what they’re seeing or reading!!!
Dislikes: I can’t really think of anything I don’t like about this game…..it’s simple and not deep, so it won’t be for everyone.
Stand O’ Food is an original, fast-paced restaurant challenge with millions of players on PC and other platforms. Feed a host of hungry patrons before they leave in a huff! Slap together burgers and cook up some bacon as quickly as you can! But it’s not all about speed – you’ve also got to plan ahead. Put the sandwiches together in the correct sequence, and set yourself up so you can make the next sandwich without difficulty. Earn money to purchase condiments and upgrade your equipment to serve tastier food even faster than before. Stand O’ Food will satisfy all of your cravings!
- 2 gameplay modes: Quest and Lunch Rush
- More than 100 levels
- 80+ sandwiches to create
- Close to 20 upgrades to purchase
Hop on over to the App store and check it out here. It costs only .99 cents right now! BUT…
Leave a comment here and I will be able to give one of you both the Stand O’Food app AND the Mahjong Artifacts 2 app (reviewed last week).
This giveaway will end on August 1st and is open for US iTunes customers only…you need to have the appropriate Apple products to play these apps.
Disclosure: I received this app to play for myself in order to offer you an honest review!
The Precious Girls Club

Finding great sites and products for girls can sometimes be just as challenging as it is for boys. Keeping little girls “little” and not exposing them to themes and subjects that are simply too advanced for them is a major challenge for all of the moms with girls that I know.
I have already introduced several of them to the Precious Girls’ Club and my niece and another friends’ little girl are both very involved and love it! It’s a safe and sweet place for them to go and participate in activities and things that are wholesome and virtuous…which is huge for them and their moms.
The Precious Girls Club is based on an all new book series for girls that revolves around the life of Katie Bennett and a diverse group of her friends. Their world is brought to life not only through books, but also through a state-of-the-art virtual world where girls can learn and play in a safe, wholesome environment based on the values embraced by Precious Moments.
They are dedicated to providing an environment and products that help moms in their effort to make sure that their little girls do not grow up too fast. These sweet products are available online. When your little girl is playing on the site, you get to interact with it as well, all in a safe online environment.
I’m very excited to be able to offer one lucky commenter a prize pack from The Precious Girls Club. The package includes a copy of their latest book Operation Kindness and one of their adorable mini plush paw dogs…so cute!
To enter, be sure to leave a comment telling me why you’d like to win this package. There are ways to get extra entries too of course…be sure to leave a new comment for each one!

Nan’s Corner DVD
One of the best things about summer is taking a break from the fixed schedule – and sometimes hectic pace – of the school year. As my family relaxes, so do the routines. Bedtimes creep later and later as the days grow longer. Habits we worked so hard to develop start to fade and become forgotten.
If your child’s bedtime, mealtime or any other “in-between” time have turned into a struggle, the Nan’s Corner DVD offers helpful solutions in an enjoyable and fun format. Through songs, stories and role-playing parents and children work together to solve common problems found in everyday life such as getting up and ready in the morning, homework, mealtime and bedtime. It encourages communication and cooperation between parents and children.
The DVD is geared to children between the ages of 4 – 10. My 7 year-old enjoyed the singing and dancing while my 9 year-old appreciated hearing the children tell their side of the story. I was glad for the opportunity to reinforce to both the need to be courteous and respectful – parents included!
We are offering one reader the opportunity to receive the new Nan’s Corner DVD. Just visit their website, check out their fun children’s songs, then come back here and leave a comment telling us why you’d like to win (not “choose me,” “I want to win,” “great prize,” etc. Those comments will be deleted as spam.)
You can earn extra entries (simply leave a new comment for each extra you choose.) Just…
- Blog it – Write a blog post on your blog linking to this post. Leave us a link to your post in your comment.
- Tweet it – Send out a tweet with a link to this post and leave a comment here with your Twitter name.
- Stumble it – Submit it to stumble to let others know about it. Be sure to comment here to let us know.
- Subscribe to it – Subscribe to The Moms Review and leave a comment letting us know you do.
- Technorati it – Add this post to your Technorati faves, then leave a comment here telling us who you are on Technorati.
All of this gives you a grand total of six chances for entries! This giveaway ends on July 21, 2009 and is open only to US addresses and is void where prohibited.
Letter Bug iPhone App – A Giveaway
June 19, 2009 by Shera

When I was contacted and asked if I would download and review Letter Bug (by Portable Zoo), an app for iPhone, I was happy to do it. What I didn’t expect is a dynamic and very interactive word game that is fun for the whole family!
The morning after I got it, my sis and I had a rather long drive to take…and without kids (when does that happen?). At some point during the trip, my sis pulled out my iPhone and popped open Letter Bug. Let’s just say that she sort of disappeared into the game for most of the rest of the trip.
We love it! It is a lot of fun to play and has a unique cloudy 3-D kind of thing going on with all the letters that just keeps the game intruguing and fun. It is definitely challenging, but even my kids love to play it when they get a chance!
I obviously love it, but you should really check out the site for yourself to get more information. You’ll definitely find that this is a very family friendly app and a great addition to your app collection!
When you’re done checking out the Letter Bug iPhone app website, make sure you come back and leave a comment here and you’ll be entered to win one of 5 Letter Bug apps I’ve been given codes for you to use to download!
When you leave a comment, be sure to tell me either why you’d love to win this app, or how long you’ve had your iPhone (remember, comments like “enter me” or “pick me” are always deleted). Read more

Wow Baby offers an amazing variety of stylish, functional bibs and burp cloths for baby! They are made of Natural Cotton and Organic Bamboo so they are soft to baby’s skin, but very absorbant!
Hand crafted in the USA, we use sophisticated prints to create irresistible baby gear that complement and add to your babies ensemble. A blend of natural cotton and organic bamboo fabrics create an attractive and yet absorbent combination that feels soft and luxurious against a baby’s skin. Our patent-pending detachable liner technology protects clothing against wetness even under the most trying circumstances. Cloth area provides maximum absorbency and is gentle on babies skin. Our products have been certified by the USA Federal Product Safety Board.
Wow Baby sent me one of their Bibs N Burps sets (the Sunrise) to review. My sweet 2 month old niece is a spitter, so we knew it would come in handy and we were all immediately in love as soon as we used it for the first time.
The idea of having a detachable liner for both the bib and the burp cloth is ingenious! When everything needs to be cleaned up, simply detach the lining and rinse it off in soapy water and wash the bib as you normally would. When done, pair the two together again and away you go! So great!
I also have to say right off that we really appreciated that the fabric used in these products truly are very soft and the detachable liner is also surprisingly flexible and soft…NOT hot, crinkly and sticky like most of them are!!!
It’s also very obvious that Wow Baby takes customer care and satisfaction VERY seriously!
We take great pride in our products and as such offer a money back guarantee on all purchases. In addition, because we believe moms & dads our the best product reviewers, we greatly value their opinion and offer them 10% discount and free shipping all year if they sign up to be a Preferred Customer.
Their best seller is the Bibs N Burps collection which retails for $29 (unless you’re a preferred customer of course). Right now they are offering their 2008 cotton bibs and burp cloths at 20% off (no code needed, in shop promotion – Limited availability). But of course, Preferred Customers get 10% off and free shipping all year.
Wow Baby is offering one lucky commenter a set of two Signature Stripes Bibs. To enter, simply visit Wow Baby and take a look around, then, when you’re done, come back here and leave a comment mentioning your favorite product.

Nanny Deprived Giveaway

There are those shops that you may happen upon once in a blue moon. The ones that serve a bigger purpose and offer truly unique and functional products at the same time. I have recently been introduced to just one such shop…Nanny Deprived.
When owner Amanda Cummings contacted me and asked if I would review her Mom T-Shirts, and showed me a few photos to choose from, I was definitely interested (and very excited). When the T-Shirt arrived, I was thrilled to find that it was just as fun as I had imagined and it fits great! I wear it all the time! I am Nanny Deprived.
When I asked Amanda about the birth of Nanny Deprived, this is what she said…
We wanted our site to be more than just a store but more of a shrine to moms filled with fun quotes, poetry, mom facts, story contests, our blog and shopping. We try to find and sell the most fun and functional products for moms!
Their entire line of Mom T-Shirts is definitely a fun place to start, but they offer so many products that moms will love that you must keep looking while you’re there. Their best selling product is Mom Spit, but they also carry amazing products like slings, diaper bags, jewelry, potty training needs, bath and body, great blankets, what seems like everything for baby and MUCH more!
I could seriously go on and on, but instead, I’ll send you over to the shop to get 15% off any order over $20 by using the code FROGGY. Just be sure to do it soon since the offer expires on June 30th!
You may also want to decide what one of your favorite products is while you’re there (let me tell you, that will definitely be a challenge since you are definitely going to love a lot of their products) so that you can come back here and leave a comment to be entered to win your choice of any one Nanny Deprived Mom T-Shirt (non-bling)!
Once you’ve left a comment telling me your favorite, be sure to take advantage of any of these great EXTRA entry opportunities – remember to leave a new comment for each one:
- Tweet It: Twitter with a link to this post and make sure to mention your twittername in your comment.
- Blog It: Write a blog post about this giveaway with a link to it and make sure to leave a link to your post in the comment.

Windex Outdoor All-In-One

It’s hard to believe that spring will soon be giving way to summer. Not so hard to believe is there’s still plenty of spring cleaning left to do in my home. That’s why I was pleased to try out the new Windex Outdoor All in One window cleaning tool.
Contained in one small box, this product and a garden hose are all you need to get rid of dirt and grime, leaving your windows beautifully clean and streak-free. The easy to assemble cleaning tool allows you to reach as high as 11 feet, so I was able to wash even my large sliding glass doors without the use of a step ladder.
Window washing can be time consuming, but it doesn’t get any quicker or easier than this. Simply spray the windows with a hose, use the cleaning tool and enclosed pad to wipe the windows clean and then rinse off. There’s no need to dry because the sheeting action of the cleaner eliminates streaks and spots.
My windows were now clean but the cleaning pad was still ready for more. It lasts for up to 20 uses, with replacement pads available in many stores.
We are offering 2 readers the opportunity to receive one of these great Windex Outdoor All-In-One starter kits for your home! Just visit their website and check out their video, then come back here and leave a comment telling us why you’d like to win (not “choose me”, “I want to win”, “Great Prize”, etc …those will be deleted as spam).
You can earn extra entries (simply leave a new comment for each extra you choose) by…
- Blog It – write a blog post on your blog linking to this post, just leave us a link to your post in the comments.
- Tweet It – send out a tweet with a link to this post and leave a comment here with your twitter name.
